Why Weight Loss Surgery?

Weight loss surgery is a big surgery. Many people see it as a quick fix, cheating, or the easy way out. I can tell you for a fact that I do not see it that way. I see surgery as a tool to help me get healthy.

I did not really start to gain weight until college. In high school I always felt fat, but looking back at pictures, I was nowhere near fat. Per the bmi scale, I was probably overweight, but I was not fat. But then college came and my mental health went into a bad downward direction. I started to eat to make me feel better and my movement decreased dramatically. I put on weight very quickly at this point.

6 years later, I was not getting regular periods so I went to the gynecologist who diagnosed me with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). For those who know anything about PCOS knows that it royally fucks with your hormones, and many people gain wait and have trouble losing it.

Anyways…since then I’ve tried keto, low carb, low fat, intermittent fasting, food combining, weight watchers, outside of the microwave meal Jenny Craig type things, I’ve done it. I’d lose a bit then stop, or get hangry, or get bored, or get frustrated. Long story short, it would work for a while but then I’d gain it all back.

And after I had Beatrix, I did not really lose the baby weight. Pre baby I was about 238. The day before baby I was about 278. Now I’m about 268.

So long story short, weight loss surgery seems to be a better option than continuing to try fad diets. The success rate is also just much higher long term. If I want to be healthy for Beatrix, I need to do something that has a solid long term success rate.
